about make cures happen
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Make Cures Happen is a program that gives endurance sports participants the opportunity to add more meaning to their events by raising funds to bring help and hope to patients battling cancer. By participating in Make Cures Happen, you are funding lifesaving cancer research and helping patients live better, longer lives. As you enjoy the tremendous achievement of completing your athletic event, you can also feel the pride of giving back to others.
Since 1949, LLS has been funding scientific research to discover treatments that effectively treat blood cancers. Drugs like Gleevec®, Velcade®, Dacogen® and Sprycel®. The repurposing of existing arthritis and antifungal drugs to treat leukemias. Drugs that allow thousands of cancer patients to manage their condition with a daily pill.
We're on the brink of even more incredible breakthroughs, like targeted therapies that zero in on cancer cells and kill them. And immunotherapies that use a patient's own immune system to seek out the cancer cells and eradicate them.
As a nonprofit, LLS relies on the generosity of individuals, corporations and foundations. With your help, we're making cures happen and saving lives. Thanks to you, someday is today.
